We took a break from fairy- house- building in our backyard to take some photos.  It’s been so long since I’ve photographed my girls with “the big camera”.  the girls out back (1 of 7) the girls out back (2 of 7) the girls out back (3 of 7) the girls out back (4 of 7) the girls out back (5 of 7) the girls out back (7 of 7)the girls out back (6 of 7)

I am so very proud of this project for many reasons.  First, I am happy to have had the opportunity to contribute to the MSC school and scholarship fund.  Second, because I love that each family at my girls’ school is able to have a lovely portrait of their child.  And finally, because, quite honestly, this was hard work!  I had to track down 59 kiddos on the playground or in their classrooms, and in just a few seconds, snap a photo of them however they happened to be in that moment… and that often meant messy hair, runny noses, and mis-matched clothes.  But, while that all made it challenging, it also made it SO MUCH FUN.  I loved getting the chance to catch a moment in a child’s life that you can’t always glimpse in a planned photoshoot.  I wish I could go into the school with my camera every day!  I am grateful to the teachers and parents of MSC for the opportunity to photograph these beautiful children and to give something to the school that gives so much to my children every day.

Here are some of the images:

It took some work to chase these five energetic kiddos around the park, but I think we were able to wrangle them long enough to get a few adorable photos.  LOVE the one with the balloons!

Ali is one of my oldest and dearest friends.  Some of my favorite memories from my childhood and teenage years include Ali.  Getting to see her with her nearly- grown daughters was such a great joy for me.  It was so great to see how much fun they have together, and I think their love for one another shows in these photos.  THIS is why I love photography– I’m so happy am able to preserve these moments for my friend.  Love you Ali!

We visited Carter Mountain to do a little apple picking today.  This is one of the many things I love about fall in Charlottesville.

Bobby convinced us that we should dedicate ourselves to one hour of yard work/ family time each evening so we can start working on our landscaping.  I, of course, took this to mean photo opportunity.  Here’s a quick pic of Asha on a break from stick-gathering:
